The process of empaneling 1983 batch IAS officers for appointment as Secretary or equivalent rank has begun. As many as 46 officers are said to have been in consideration zone for the purpose.
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last month to file its report on the officers found eligible for Secretary rank empanelment. According to sources, the CBI has informed the CVC that it may take time till the second week of November to prepare and file its report.
Once done, the CVC will process the CBI report and send it off with its comments to the Cabinet Secretariat. The Secretariat will then set off the final process of empanelment.
