A. Gitesh Sarma (IFS:1986) has been concurrently accredited as the next High Commissioner of India to Tuvalu, with residence in Suva (Fiji).
Presently, he is High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Fiji. Before this stint he was Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan.
Mr Sarma assumed charge as High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Fiji in August 2014. He is also concurrently accredited to the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu and covers the Pacific Islands Forum and other regional organizations in Suva.
He began his career with his first foreign assignment as Third Secretary in Moscow. His other foreign assignments have been Consul General in Odessa; First Secretary, Consulate General of India, Hong Kong; First Secretary/Counsellor, Embassy of India, Minsk; and Counsellor/Minister, High Commission of India, Islamabad.
