Akbaruddin to succeed Mukerji in UN as Permanent Representative

Syed Akbaruddin (IFS:1986), former MEA spokesperson, is named as India’s permanent representative in the UN in New York. He will succeed Asoke Mukerji (IFS:1978). The current reshuffle in the Ministry of External Affairs has facilitated the biggest career jump for Syed Akbaruddin, who stands promoted from the rank of additional secretary to a Secretary-level post.

Presently Akbaruddin is chasing targets to deliver the big ticket India-Africa summit in October.
