Akbaruddin will succeed Mukerji in UN as Permanent Representative



Finally the orders are issued. Former MEA Spokesperson and PM’s confidante Syed Akbaruddin (IFS:1985) has been appointed successor to Asoke Mukerji (IFS:1978) as Permanent Representative of India in United Nation. Recently he played crucially important role in ensuring India-Africa Forum Summit a grand success.

It is being perceived as the biggest career jump for Syed Akbaruddin, who stands promoted from the rank of additional secretary to a Secretary-level post. Though Syed is Additional Secretary rank officer he has been given with an assignment which conventionally given to a Secretary rank officer.
