Anupam Kher, the Indian Cine actor and former chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama, replaces Gajendra Chauhan as the new chairman of Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. Chauhan took charge as FTII chairman on June 09, 2015 and his tenure ended in March this year. Earlier, in opposition to Chauhan’s appointment students of FTII boycotted classes for 139 days.
Kher, the acclaimed Bollywood actor, producer, teacher, philanthropist and motivational speaker, has served the Indian cinema industry for over three decades. He is is also the Founder and Chairman of the institute ACTOR PREPARES, an acting school, established in 2005.
Kher has worked in more than 500 films and over 100 plays in last three decades. He has also been a part of international projects such as Golden Globe-nominated Bend It Like Beckham, Ang Lee’s 2007 Golden Lion-winning Lust, Caution, and David O Russell’s 2013 Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook.
