Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary (IAS:J&K:2009), has been selected for the country’s highest Civil Service honour, the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration’ for year 2014. The PM has recognised his contribution in strengthening the Panchayats and electoral inclusion of excluded groups. The award will be conferred on April 21 in New Delhi during the Civil Services Day celebrations.
Dr Shahid, a veterinary surgeon-turned-IAS officers, is the youngest civil servant and probably the first individual officer from J&K to receive this prestigious award. He had earlier received the National Award for Best Electoral conduct from Election Commission of India and National Award for e-Governance presented by Ministry of Personnel, Govt of India.
