Amid many initiatives on the cards Enforcement Directorate is ready with its ever first ‘Cyber forensic lab’ which may see a formal inauguration by next week or so. As many as seven internal (ED) executives have been trained in the first phase to make the lab operational.
The lab has made ED capable of completing the forensic test of data and further investigation in a matter of months having legal sanctity in the Court of Law. Dependency on CFL Hyderabad & Chandigarh laboratory for forensic test usually takes more than a year making the trial of case cumbersome & some time irrelevant too. The lab would bring in transparency and set the investigation and trial on fast track. ED’s Cyber Forensic Lab is, reportedly, capable of even extracting data from bad sectors of hard-drives damaged or crushed by the culprits to escape from. Reportedly, the hi-end devices of the lab are not only capable of breaking the passwords but also able to extract data from any electronic gadgets and devices made across the world.
The idea of having ED’s own ‘Cyber Forensic Lab’ was taken up in the end of 2012 which is set to take off in January 2014. Only thing its waits for is a formal inauguration which expected by next week or so.
