Ministry of External Affairs’ website has been given Web Ratna Awards 2014 for its Outstanding Content. Union Minister for Communications and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad felicitated winners of the award. The young officers of MEA under the leadership of Syed Akbaruddin had drafted and crafted the content which finally brought the MEA Website closer to the contest. The team which crafted the content comprised officers namely; Syed Akbaraduddin, Bishwadeep Dey (presently posted in Bhutan), J P Singh (presently posted in Islamabad), Dr Sumit Seth, Dr Vishnu V Reddy, Upendra Singh Negi, Shivam Singh, Yusuf Jamal and Virendra Kumar Billonia. This is an initiative on part of the government using e-Governance.

On behalf of the content team Dr Sumit Seth (Dy Secretary, Digital Diplomacy) received the award who happens to be the youngest post-graduate of Forensic Medicine in India who has also authored the book ‘Review of Forensic Medicine”.

It would interest our readers to recall that a name-plate, reading “Digital Diplomacy”, in Shastri Bhawan had made many media-persons curious last year as such designation (for the first time) had well signified the advent of a new approach in diplomacy to mark Modi era.
