Tripura cadre IPS officer Joydeep Nayak was on Tuesday granted bail by the Orissa High Court which has asked him to deposit his passport. A single-judge bench headed by Justice S Pujahari sanctioned bail to Nayak who has been accused in the Rs 88 lakh computer training misappropriation case.
The HC has directed the release of Nayak on bail on furnishing of Rs 50 lakh property security. He also has to submit Rs 1 lakh security amount of two sureties.
The IPS officer was arrested by the State Vigilance on July 23 from Ghaziabad. Nayak, who headed the SC and ST protection Cell of Human Rights Protection Cell, is charged with showing undue favour to a firm engaged in providing computer education to students in Nuapada district.
