Centre mandates BSNL, MTNL connections in departments, state-run firms

800The Modi government has mandated the use of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) network for broadband, internet, and leased lines in all state-controlled departments, ministries, public sector enterprises, and autonomous bodies. In May this year, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) sought views from the Department of Expenditure for the mandatory use of telecom services provided by BSNL and MTNL to government departments, organizations, and agencies. The circular, issued by the Ministry of Communications following the consultation with the Ministry of Finance, has been sent to secretaries of all ministries and departments for mandatory adherence.

The Modi government has mandated the use of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) network for broadband, internet, and leased lines in all state-controlled departments, ministries, public sector enterprises, and autonomous bodies.
