Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign tours are frequently manipulated to project him an ‘NRI PM’. Does he really deserve this tag? The facts on record clearly establish that NaMo’s detractors are clearly on the wrong and losing side. According to fDi Markets, a data service of Financial Times, India has stolen the march over both the US and China in attracting the foreign direct investments in Greenfield projects in the first six months of the current calendar year. The international data service provider states that during January-June 2015, foreigners invested as much as $31 billion in capital expenditure in India’s greenfield projects versus $28 billion in China and $27 billion in the US. At $31 billion, the FDI investment in the first half of this year more than doubled compared to $12 billion in the same period of 2014. If this does not reflect the success of Modi’s global diplomacy based on personal interactions with political and economic leaders worldwide, what else could?
