The appointment of successor of B Prasad Rao (CMD, BHEL) has reached to interesting juncture. The Department of Heavy Industry has, reportedly, recommended to the ACC to revalidate Prakash Chand’s selection as CMD, BHEL which has already lapsed. Prakash (ED, Haridwar unit of BHEL) was selected for CMD, BHEL in June 2013 and was expected to succeed B P Rao on December 31, 2013. But he lost the opportunity after UPA-II government gave two years extension to the incumbent CMD B P Rao.
Now with the scheduled retirement of Rao on December 31, 2014 Ministry of Heavy Industries and PESB together have to ensure a succession plan for BHEL. In case ACC approves the revalidation, Prakash Chand will succeed B P Rao as CMD BHEL on January 01, 2016. In case ACC declines the proposal PESB would have to readvertise the post for a fresh selection process.
The top rank spectators inside PSUs are keenly watching the development as Narednra Modi’s regime markes itself with out of the box decisions.
