Sanjeev Nandan Sahai (IAS:1986:UT) finally appointed as ‘interim’ Chief Secretary to the newly formed Government in Delhi. Sahai currently served as MD and CEO of DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd. He will serve as CD till a an officer is appointed as regular CS.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal failed to get the officer of his choice appointed as Chief Scretary. Delhi CM had recommended the name of Ramesh Negi (IAS:1984:UT) for the coveted post but MHA declined the proposal saying it would not over look over a dozen senior officers waiting in the queue. Sahai took over from Deepak Mohan Spolia (IAS:1979:UT) who retired on February 28.
In response to Kejriwal’s recommendation the MHA had, reportedly, suggested to pick a name from the panel comprising three officers; Anand Prakesh (IAS:1979:UT), Chief Secretary, Andman & Nicobar; Former CS of Delhi S K Srivastava (IAS:1980:UT) and Ms Naini Jayaseelan (IAS:1980:UT), the former Member Secy (AS), National Capital Region Planning Board.
The series of recommendation and refusal finally did not land on any conclusion prompting sahai to be appointed as ‘interim’ CS of Delhi.
