‘Indianmandarins’ reliably learns that the coveted post of CMD, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) will be filled through search-cum-selection route. If some top sources are to be believed the Telecom Ministry has sought the exemption from PESB route.
The post of CMD (MTNL) had fallen vacant on May 31, 2014 on superannuation of A K Garg. Initially, P K Purwar (Director- Finance, MTNL) was given the additional charge of CMD. Further on June 08, 2015 the ACC had given the additional charge of CMD to Narendra Kumar Yadav (Member- Services, Telecom Commission) for a period of six months (starting his date of taking the charge).
Now only 30 days have left when N K Yadav will complete his tenure on 16th November as CMD (additional charge) the post has not been advertised as yet.
The appointment of CMD, MTNL has become crucially important for the government also because MTNL has posted a standalone net-loss of Rs 595.11 crs in the 4th quarter ended 31st March 2015, due to rise in expenditure and Rs 2,893.39 crore net loss for FY 2014-15.
