The Republic Day parade this year would be different: while a French military contingent will march along with their Indian military counterparts, contingents of para-military forces, except the one from the BSF, would be conspicuous by their absence. Call it economizing on expenditure, it has not gone down well with personnel of these organizations. For they believe they have been making immense contributions to national security and citizen welfare and hence have a legitimate right to participate in the nationally and internationally significant parade. One does not know the exact reason for this exclusion. But Indianmandarins has learnt that it has got something to do with France’s President Hollande time time. The chief guest is supposed to have too many engagements on hand both in India and back home in France that has become the focal point of attack by Islamists in Europe.
