Upendra Prasad Singh (IAS:1985:OR), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been given the additional charge of CMD, Oil India Limited after Ms Rupshikha Borah’s appointmentment faced last minutes hurdles. Though Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has drew Prime Minister’s attention yesterday and urged to re-consider the issues and hurdles involved.

Had the last minute hurdle not captured the scenario Oil India Limited would have been welcoming Ms Rupshikha Saikia Borah today (July 01, 2015) as its new CMD. The post fell vacant after S K Srivastava, the incumbent CMD, OIL, superannuated on June 30. Ms Borah (Director- Finance, OIL) was duly selected by the PESB for CMD on February 10 this year but her appointment faced teething problems when the matter was in its last legs. She is the first ever lady functional director in the Board of OIL.
