A 1986 batch IFS officer Vikas Swarup has been named as new MEA Spokesperson and is expected to take charge on April 18. Presently he is working in the MEA HQ (New Delhi) as Joint Secretary (UN-Political). His previous postings include stints in Washington DC, Turkey, London and Japan (Osaka-Kobe).
He is best known as the author of ‘Q & A’ (which was subsequently made into the Oscar winner Hollywood film Slumdog Millionnaire). He has also authored two more novels namely; ‘Six Suspects’ and ‘The Accidental Apprentice’.
