Indianmandarins has learnt that Kode Durga Prasad (IPS:1981:TL), the newly appointed CRPF DG, may have a fair chance and good reason to repatriate to his cadre state of Telangana by the end of this year to take up the job of state DGP.
Although current Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma (IPS:1982:TL) and Durga Prasad will superannuate on February 28 next year, Telangana is among the few states which follows the Supreme Court guidelines in terms of two years fixed tenure for DGP. Since Sharma was formally appointed DGP in November 2015 even as held the additional charge for 16 months prior to this, he would complete the two-year tenure in July 2016. After his DGP term ends, he may be given some other top assignment till retirement in February 2017.
This is what has opened up a window of opportunity for Durga Prasad to repatriate to Telangana and get the coveted post of DGP. And as DGP, if he gets a two-year tenure in accordance with rule, he would also have a windfall benefit of a minor extension in his service period.
