The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Tuesday, February 13, asked Anshuman Das to continue functioning as the Chairperson (additional charge) of PESB till 31 March 2018. The decision not only puts speculations to rest but also removed the lingering apprehensions in the minds of public sector officials.
May it be noted that Indianmandarins had on February 06 highlighted the fact that the public sector headhunter (PESB) was functioning without a regular Chairman since the third week of July 2017 following the appointment of Sanjay Kothari (Retd IAS:1978: HY), the then PESB Chairman, as Secretary to the President of India.
Being the senior-most member of the Board, Anshuman Das has been officiating as the Chairman of PESB. However, the absence of any formal announcement on his tenure as functional Chairman (which ended on December 31, 2017) had created an atmosphere of uncertainty. To make matters worse, the post of Secretary, PESB, too, fell vacant following the retirement of Rajiv Rai on January 31, and that still remains unoccupied.
