New Delhi (24.07.2026): After the nation-wide students’ protest against paper leaks seeking resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the NaMo administration appears to have sent out a message by appointing a new Secretary for Higher Education by lateral shift and appointing a new Secretary for Primary Education. The post of Secretary, Primary Education was laying vacant while the charge of Secretary, Higher Education was given to Naresh Pal Gangwar (IAS: 1994: RJ) replacing Vineet Joshi who has been given the charge of Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj. T K Anil Kumar (IAS: 1995: KN) has been appointed as the new Primary Education Secretary.
The Centre had already moved to overhaul the administrative framework of the National Testing Agency (NTA) by appointing two Joint Directors and two Joint Secretaries. This was also being looked upon as battling out severe institutional scrutiny over repeated paper leak allegations in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
New Delhi (24.07.2026): In a major bureaucratic restructuring, the Narendra Modi Administration has bifurcated the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to establish a dedicated Department of Capital Development. Under this strategic overhaul, MoHUA will now function through two specialized verticals namely; Department of Capital Development and Department of Urban Development.
The newly created Department of Capital Development is designed to streamline operations specific to the National Capital Region (NCR). It decouples local capital governance from broader national urban policy initiatives.
