Dr Rajiv Kumar will replace Panagaria in Niti Aayog



Renowned economist Dr Rajiv Kumar has been named as successor to the outgoing Vice Chairman of Arvind Panagaria. Dr Rajiv will take over on 31st August; the day Panagariya would demit office. Dr Vinod Paul, Pediatrician , AIIMS, will be the new Member of Niti Aayog.

Dr Rajiv Kumar holds a DPhil in economics from Oxford University & PhD from Lucknow University. He was a member of the National Security Advisory Board between 2006 & 2008. Earlier he served as the chief economist of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and held senior positions in the the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Earlier, he was Secretary General of the FICCI and had also served as Director and Chief Executive of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). Currently, he is senior fellow at the Centre for Policy Research.
