Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Sanjay Kundu (IPS:1989: HP) could be appointed as the new DGP of Himachal Pradesh. Reportedly, Kundu’s name was discussed with the CM during the latter’s Delhi visit on Sunday, December 31, 2017.
If Kundu does replace Somesh Goyal (IPS:1984: HP), the incumbent DGP, it may be interesting to note that in terms of seniority, the difference between the two chiefs (Chief Secretary & DGP) will be more than seven years. The newly-appointed CS Vineet Chawdhary belongs to the 1982 batch whereas Kundu is from the 1989 batch.
Kundu has been serving at the Centre since December 2016 as a Joint Secretary, M/o Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and also held the additional charge of Chairman, Brahmaputra Board till 17 April 2017.
