Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the Union Home Ministry has ignored the representation made by Jaspal Singh, an AGMUT cadre 1996 batch IPS officer.

Singh’s representation was related to the fact that on the completion of his deputation tenure in IB on June 18 this year, he was straight away posted to Goa as IGP without giving him the option of serving in Delhi.

Usually, all AGMUT IPS officers want a stint in Delhi Police after completion of deputation.

The dismissal of Singh’s representation is seen as unfair because there are clear guidelines for transfer/posting of AGMUT cadre officers (IAS & IPS) and many senior officers have been cooling their heels in Delhi Police for more than 10 years or even for a longer period but Jaspal Singh was not given the option of serving in Delhi.

In this background, the dismissal of Singh’s prayer for a stint in Delhi is seen as rather unusual, if not discriminatory.
