The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on 9 November cleared the empanelment of four IRS (IT) officers; Vinod Tanwani, Ms Ashima Neb, P V Pradeep Kumar and Sheodan Singh Bhadoria for promotion to the grade of Commissioner of Income Tax in the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax).

It may be recalled that NaMo administration had on 31 October 2019 had announced the empanelment of 94 IRS (IT) officers in the rank of CIT (Panel Year 2017-18) and 20 IRS (IT) officers for the Panel Year 2018. In addition, 20 officers were also empanelled as CIT though by keeping recommendations of the DPC in ‘sealed covers’. Sixteen junior-most officers were promoted on ‘ad hoc’ basis till the ‘sealed cover’ cases would finalize or until subsequent regular vacancies in the grade would arise whereas the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) had assessed 04 officers unfit and denied empanelment (against Panel Year 2017-18 and 2018) as CIT.

Further, empanelment of 08 IRS (IT) officers were deferred for the panel years 2017-18 and 2018 of which four officers (Vinod Tanwani, Ms Ashima Neb, P V Pradeep Kumar and Sheodan Singh Bhadoria) were finally empanelled today for holding CIT rank post in IRS.
