New Delhi (15.04.2025): In a politically significant move after the formation of the BJP government in the Capital, the Law department of the Delhi government has initiated a process to withdraw cases against the Lt Governor, former Chief Secretaries and the Principal Secretary of Finance department. This significant process requires the approval of CM and LG and thereafter the government advocates will file the withdrawal petitions in the Supreme Court.
Former CM Aitishi Marlena had filed cases against the LG, former chief secretary and, also the Principal Secretary of Finance alleging that these officers had withheld the release of the fund to Delhi Jal Board that required immediate money for various works.
Another AAP functionary Jasmine Shah had filed cases against bureaucrats. Sources in the Law department said there were around a dozen cases against the top bureaucrats and now all these cases will be withdrawn. A battery of legal experts will initiate this process very soon.
This is a significant move of the newly formed BJP government to boost the morale of the bureaucrats who were fighting a continuous battle against the AAP leadership. The bureaucrats were on the backfoot for the past ten years during the AAP regime.
The new initiatives will instill confidence among the entire bureaucracy and they can become the backbone of progressive initiatives of the BJP government. Though the entire process may take a few months time, these cases filed during AAP regime have no legal sanctity as BJP has taken over the reigns in Delhi government.
