Shimla (01.05.2024): Dr Atul Verma (IPS: 1991: HP) has been
appointed the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh superseding
three officers. He was serving as the director general (CID). The orders were
issued after obtaining permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI). Sanjay
Kundu (IPS: 1989: HP), the former DGP of Himachal Pradesh, retired on Tuesday after serving 35
years in the police service. In terms of seniority, IPS Atul Verma
ranks fourth after IPS officers Tapan Kumar Deka (IPS: 1988: HP), S R Ojha (IPS:
1989: HP) and Shyam Bhagat Negi (IPS: 1990: HP). Deka and Negi are currently on
