New Delhi (17.11.2021): Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh (IPS: 1988: MH) has been declared a “proclaimed offender” on November 17, 2021 by a city court in connection with an extortion case. Singh's is the first-ever case of a former Mumbai police commissioner being declared a proclaimed offender and was the second-most IPS officer serving in Maharashtra.

The immediate implication of this is that now the police will paste the notice on the known addresses of Param Bir Singh and two others and publish it in the newspaper directing them to appear before it within 30 days. If they fail to appear, the police will initiate the process for the attachment of their properties.
