Harmeet Singh is acting DGP of Assam; G P Singh relieved to take over as CRPF DG

New Delhi (27.01.2025): Days after the appointment of Gyanendra Pratap Singh (IPS: 1991: AM) as the next Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Government of Assam relieved him to embark on Central Deputation. The ACC had on January 19 appointed GP Singh as DG, CRPF till superannuation i.e. November 2027.
Meanwhile, Himanta administration has engaged Harmeet Singh (IPS: 1992: AM) to function as the acting DGP of Assam until the appointment of a regular incumbent. Harmeet Singh will be retiring in December 2028. Indianmandarins has reliably learned that Harmeet Singh in all likelihood will be regularised as Assam DGP.
CRPF was also functioning under an ad hoc arrangement since 31.12.2024 on the retirement of Anish Dayal Singh (IPS: 1988: AM). Currently, Vipul Kumar (IPS: 1993: UP), Special DG, CRPF is officiating as DG. G P Singh is expected to take charge as CREPF DG today.
