New Delhi (07.04.2021): President Ram Nath Kovind has formally appointed Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, 63, as CJI. He will be sworn in on April 24, 2021, and will preside over the SC till August 26, 2022. He is credited with participating in several important rulings of the SC. He was part of the bench that called for immediate review of the Internet services suspension in Jammu and Kashmir and was a member of the panel of judges which held that the Chief Justice's office comes under the ambit of the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
