New Delhi (19.06.2024): A courtesy call made by the outgoing UP Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra (Retd IAS: 1984: UP) to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday gave wings to speculations. Key sources say that Mishra may be given a Gubernatorial position in one of the poll-bound states -- Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and J&K.
Contrary to these speculations, a senior and a seasoned IAS officer from his state observed that if a picture of any such meetings hits the public domain it becomes unlikely of any such big move in favour of him. Another section of insiders says that the meeting itself rules out the possibility of him getting further extension and he soon may turn out to be a former CS.
It is quite often said that none is indispensable in the NaMo-Shah dispensation but having proved his utility, bureaucrats all across are not ready to believe that Mishra would fall out of favour till he attains 65 years of age.
