Bhubaneshwar (08.11.2021): The countdown for new Odisha DGP begins as the incumbent DGP Abhay's 2-year tenure will end on December 31, 2021. The Odisha government had sent UPSC a list of 14 senior IPS officers.

The UPSC selection panel comprising of its Chairman, Union Home Secretary, incumbent Odisha Chief Secretary and DGP will meet in the third week of this month to finalise the names of the new top cop. And by December first week, the State may get its new DGP.

These names included: Pradeep Kapur (IPS: 1986: OD) has been on central deputation since 2015; Bijay Kumar Sharma (IPS: 1986: OD) was appointed as acting DGP, before the appointment of incumbent DGP Abhay; Sunil Bansal (IPS: 1987: OD) is currently holding the post of Special Director, Intelligence Bureau; Manoj Chhabra (IPS: 1988: OD) is the Special Director General of Police, Special Armed Police, Odisha; Santosh Upadhaya (IPS: 1988: OD) is the DG, Prisons and Directorate of Correctional Services; Binayananda Jha (IPS: 1988: OD) holds the position of ADGP and Director, Investigation, OHRC.

Arun Kumar Ray (IPS: 1988: OD) is Dy Chairman in Tea Board and has been on Central deputation; Pranabindu Acharya (IPS: 1989: OD) is the Addl DGP, Railways and Coastal Security, Odisha; Amrit Mohan Prasad (IPS: 1989: OD) is Director, CBI's Economic Offence Zone -II; B Radhika (IPS: 1989: OD) is currently the Dy DG Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB); Sidartha Narvane is at present ADG, Human Rights Protection Cell in Odisha Police HQ; YB Khurania (IPS: 1990: OD) is currently IG BSF. Sudhanshu Sarangi (IPS: 1990: OD) is currently chairman of Odisha Police Housing and Police Welfare Society; Arun Sarangi (IPS: 1990: OD) is currently the director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy.
