New Delhi (26.07.2021): Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh inaugurated REC's new State-of-the-art futuristic Corporate Office at Gurugram, Haryana, to mark its 52nd foundation day.

Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar, Secretary (Power) Alok Kumar, CMD Sanjay Malhotra, and key officials of the Ministry of Power and REC were present on the occasion

REC’s new corporate office, spread over 4.2 acres, is a bioclimatic building made up of a plaza and a 400-seat auditorium. It is a net-zero building powered by its own 1MW rooftop solar plant and has been awarded by the GRIHA summit (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) for Integrated Water Management and Energy Management.

On this occasion, as part of the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence, the Ministers also released a report on Key Regulatory Parameters of Power Utilities.

The report captures key regulatory information of DISCOMs apart from the state-owned transmission and generation utilities.

The event also saw the release of a booklet on the Achievements of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) scheme of the Government of India and a compendium on REC’s CSR initiatives by the dignitaries.

Minister Singh also congratulated REC for having recently completed the task of connecting every village and hamlet in a record time and thus transforming the power sector.

Minister Gurjar pointed out that "under the DDUGJY scheme, the country has achieved 100% electrification of villages. It was a challenging task - electrifying 2.81 crore households in record time. REC deserves to be congratulated for it.”

Talking about the report on Key Regulatory Parameters of Power Utilities released by REC, he observed that it may help provide a comprehensive collection of performance parameters for power utilities and insights for better decision-making.

In his speech, the Secretary (Power) remarked, “REC's  moving to a new building ... should mark a new era...”
