Sansad TV Governing Council reconstituted; Punhani is new CEO

New Delhi (11.04.2023): Just a year ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the government has re-constituted Governing Council of Sansad TV, which came into existence after merging Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TVs in March 2021, by suspending its previous orders issues by Lok Sabha Secretariat on November 5, 2021 and on August 31, 2022. It has also appointed Ranjit Punhani (IAS: 1991: BH) as CEO Sansad TV with immediate effect. Punhani will replace Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh as Sansad TV CEO who was holding additional charge.

The new governance mechanism of Sansad TV will be as follows:

Chairman Rajya Sabha and Vice President of India will be its Chairman while Lok Sabha Speaker will be the C0-Chairman. Secretary Generals of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha will be members of the governing Council while CEO Sansad TV will be the Member-Secretary. The Governing Council will have the mandate to provide policy directions to the CEO. Sansad TV was launched on September 15, 2021 by the Prime Minister.
