New Delhi (08.07.2021): Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; and Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupendra Yadava has been brought to Union cabinet apparently with an intent which is not only significant but important as well. He is the only one who was sworn-in despite being the national general secretary of the party.
It is also significant in terms of the portfolio allotted to him as contrary to the general perception that he could have been given Law Ministry for being a Supreme Court lawyer, he was allotted Environment, Forest and Climate Change; and Minister of Labour and Employment ministries. In view of the Paris Accord, the role of India in environment protection is very important.
The other important thing is that labour laws and employment are major concerns for the Modi government that needs to be properly handled. Employment generation may prove to be a catalyst for the growth of the economy that the government is focusing on. But the most interesting aspect is that party president J P Nadda will have one more general secretary of his own choice. For him, it is good riddance.
So there is one more layer of loyalty and hierarchy in the Union cabinet with the induction of Yadav. Shah is the most loyal and trusted man of the PM and Yadav is the most trusted and loyal man of Shah.
