Railway Board has reportedly, moved the proposal to DoPT this week for the appointment of five General Managers. Posts are lying vacant since months, some of which lying vacant for over three years.
Zones which may find new GMs shortly are; Kolkata Metro; Southern Railway (SR), Chennai; North Central Railway (NCR), Allahabad; South East Central Railway (SECR) Bilaspur and Western Railway (WR), Mumbai.
Post of GM, Kolkata Metro is vacant for over three years. Post of GM, Southern Railway (Chennai) had fallen vacant after Rakesh Mishra took VRS w.e.f. January 31 this year. Hemant Kumar had vacated the post of GM, Western Railway (Mumbai) after he made it as Member (Mechanical), Railway Board. Simultaneously, GM (SECR, Bilaspur) Naveen Tandon had moved to Railway Board as Member (Electrical) and GM (NCR, Allahabad) Pradeep Kumar had cleared the deck for the claimants after he became Member (Staff), Railway Board.
