Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to take final call regarding the appointment of new Chairman, UIDAI; a post which fell vacant in March 2014 when Nandan Nilekani resigned after joining the Congress Party to contest Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru.
Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that two senior civil servants are being considered for Chairman post namely; R P Wattal (Rtd IAS:1978:AP) and Vijay Shankar Madan (IAS:1981:UT).
The former Finance Secretary Ratal P Watal was appointed Principal Adviser, NITI Aayog immediatelt after his retirement whereas V S Madan is set to retire on August 31 from the post of Secretary, Department of Land Resources. Madan had have a wide experience in IUDAI affair as its Director General.
Currently, Dr A B P Pandey (IAS:1984:MH), CEO of UIDAI, holds the additional charge of Chairman.
