Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma has been quietly working for the last couple of months to organize a grand festival to commemorate the cultural achievements of India. His efforts have apparently paid dividends and received support from a large number of states and Union Territories. The result is the first-ever ‘Bharat Sanskriti Mahotsav’, to be held in the large complex of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) from November 1 to 7. The Mahotsav will showcase the arts and crafts from different states, culinary items, and folk dances. About 100 stalls are likely to be set up and they will all press home the unity in diversity theme promoted by the NDA government. The services and expertise of various cultural wings of the Ministry like Lalit Kala Akademi, Zonal Cultural Councils and others have been fully utilized to make the function a grand success.
