DIG Gautam set to be relieved from CBI

CBI, Sanjeev Gautam, Controversial Officer, DIG CBI
CBI is said to be in the process of relieving DIG Sanjeev Gautam (IRS C&CE:1995) shortly. Although his tenure under central deputation ended last week, his relieving requires the permission of the competent court for he has been part of the 2G scam probe. It may be noted that CBI has made it clear that he is no longer part of the investigating team probing corruption cases against the deceased corporate affairs director general B K Bansal who had in his suicide notes alleged that Gautam and his team members tortured his wife and daughter and also threatened action against him and his son.
Further, CBI in pursuance of a notice from NHRC set up an internal inquiry under the joint director to look into the allegations.
During UPA-2, Gautam was PS to MoS Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and considered close to former CBI Director Ranjit Sinha.
