The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs plans to hold a six-day grand festival of tribal arts and culture in New Delhi from February 12 to 17 next year. Prime Minister Modi has already given his consent to mark his presence on the inaugural function on February 12, 2016. Reportedly the National Scheduled Tribes Finance & Development Corporation (NSTFDC) has been assigned to make the carnival a grand success.
The festival will celebrate and highlight the achievements of the country’s numerous tribes in music and dance, cosmetics and jewellery, clothes and artefacts, medicines and healthcare, food and sports, paintings, architecture, fashion, etc. It will also inform the public of traditions and rituals of various tribes and play up the national theme of ‘unity in diversity’.
The Ministry plans to marshal 4,000 tribal artists to turn the carnival into a grand success. It is targeting at an audience made up of VVIPs, VIPs, defence and government officials, foreign dignitaries and high embassy officials, students, artists, techies, journalists and general public.
