Four shortlisted for JNU VC post



The search-cum-selection committee, set up two months ago to identify the new JNU VC, has shortlisted a panel of four candidates for the prestigious post. The names of the finalists were submitted to the government this week. Indianmandarins has learnt that R N K Bamezai, a professor of human genetics attached with the School of Life Sciences at JNU, and scientist Virander Singh Chauhan, a leader in malaria research, are among the four shortlisted candidates

The candidates were selected after a personal interaction with the committee on December 30. As many as 15 candidates were invited for the interview. Prominent among them were  current chairperson of Indian Institute of Advanced Studies in Shimla Chandrakala Padia, Bilaspur University Vice-Chancellor Gauri Dutt Sharma, Rama Shankar Dubey, who heads the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar, IIM-Ahmedabad professor Anil Kumar Gupta, Yogesh Kumar Tyagi, dean of law faculty at South Asian University, JNU professor Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Bamezai and Chauhan.
