In nine prospective Governors two top bureaucrats!


GOVERNORSGrapevine is abuzz that the Centre may appoint Governors in the nine states where posts are lying vacant. But it appears to have been working on a different mechanism as it could have been done one after another. Some prominent names that are doing rounds included two top serving bureaucrats besides former MP CM Kailash Joshi, Union minister Najma Heptullah, senior BJP leader Lalji Tandon and Lal Muni Choube. Vacancies for Governors are there in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Bihar, Tripura, Telangana and Punjab.

Some Governors are holding charges of three states. West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi is holding additional charge of Bihar, Meghalaya and Mizoram while Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Acharya has the additional responsibility of Assam and Tripura. Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has been given additional charge of Punjab. Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh is holding the additional charge of Himachal Pradesh. Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul is in-charge of Manipur too while E S L Narasimhan continues to be the Governor of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
