Interviews take place for five foreign postings

Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the Cabinet Secretary chaired the interview panel on 29 November for five foreign posts (Jt Secretary level posts) which are always coveted by IAS officers.

The posts for which interviews were conducted were those for Senior Adviser to Executive Director, World Bank; Minister Economic at IHC Londo, Minister Economic at Indian Embassy in Tokyo; Counsellor Brussels and Adviser to Executive Director, Asian Development Bank.

Reportedly, selection interviews for most of the posts were held recently as well but they remained inconclusive. Interestingly, this time same applicants appeared before the same interview panel headed by Cabinet Secy.

May it be recalled that the posts for London and Washington were advertised in June 2015. DoPT interacted with few candidates on February 04 for London and Washington postings but there was no outcome. The Manila (ADB) post was advertised in September 2015. The post of Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) in the Embassy of India, Brussels (JS Level) under the Department of Commerce, was advertised on 29 March 2016.

Two posts of Adviser to ED, World Bank (WDC) were advertised on 06 August 2015 vice DPS Sandhu (IRTS:1987) and L K Atheek (IAS:1991:KN). The post vice Atheek is yet to be filled.
