Contrary to Narendra Modi’s all round efforts to enhance the image of country’s capital on global fora, Delhi is increasingly becoming infamous for its chaos.
Indian bureaucracy (tools of government and governance) is facing major controversies for over last two months. The latest row over appointment of M K Meena (IPS:1989:UT) as Delhi ACB Chief and Gajendra Chauhan (a BJP member) as Chairperson of the Governing Council of FTII (Pune) have captured the imagination of power corridors in Delhi. Reportedly, Delhi Government is all set to challenge the appointment of Meena whereas students of FTII, Pune continue to be on strike against the appointment of a BJP member as its Chairperson.
Simultaneously, Delhi CM’s Secretary Rajendra Kumar (IAS:1989:UT) is likely to face disciplinary action for not complying with MHA’s orders to relinquish the charge of Home Secretary. In fact, LG had appointed Dharam Pal (IAS:1988:UT) as new Prl Secretay, Home which is now being questioned by Delhi Govt. Delhi Government has already issued a notice to Dharam Pal to vacate the office of Prl Secy Home.
Ironically, five cops borrowed from Bihar (for Delhi ACB) are contemplating whether they will get their salary this month or not. Reportedly, ACB Chief M K Meena has already questioned the legality of appointment of these cops.
The power corridors are abuzz that who will save Delhi if such conflicts and environment of uncertainties are here to stay for long.
