‘Morning tea’ with Modi; prelude to Cabinet reshuffle

When the first cabinet reshuffle of Union Cabinet is less than 18 hours away the probable names are getting clearer to join swearing-in. But before that probable MPs will have to face the ‘Tea-test’ tomorrow morning.

Manohar Parrikar will get Defense portfolio while J P Nadda & Suresh Prabhu are almost certain for getting relatively good portfolios. Jayant Sinha will rub shoulders with Arun Jaitley as MoS Finance. Nirmala Sitharaman is expected for elevation from MoS to the rank of Cabinet Minister. TDP Rajya Sabha MP YS Chowdary and Babul Supriyo (Asansol, WB) are also expected to be sworn-in tomorrow.

Amid four names in circulation from Bihar Lalu’s crusader Ram Kripal Yadav is almost certain for a berth. BJP MPs Rajiv Pratap Rudy & Giriraj Singh is also expected to be taken on board. One cannot deny Bhola Singh’s name if Giriraj’s name is dropped in last minutes. Railways Minister Sadanand Gowda would also have a sleepless night until the reshuffle takes place whereas Nitin Gadkari may have some reasons for rejoice.

Hansraj Ahir (Chandrapur, MH) is expected to get Coal portfolio in MoS rank. Smriti Irani may give a surprise with I&B portfolio. One can also guess provisions for Saurabh Patel from Gujarat. Niranjan Jyoti (Fatehpur, UP), Vijay Sanpala (Hoshiyarpur, PB), Sawarmal Jat (Ajmer, RJ) are strongly recommended for speculations.

The most interesting twists are expected from Shiv Sena. Even if Shiv Sena declines BJP’s offer to join hands at the centre Shiv Sena MP Suresh Prabhu is certainly going to be sworn-in tomorrow. In case Uddhav says yes then Anil Desai would be the second name from Shiv Sena quota to mark as union minister. Olympic medalist Rajyavardhan Rathore and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi may give surprise hopefully.
