New Delhi (12.02.2021): Former Maharashtra Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta (Retd IAS:1984:MH) has been made the Chairman of Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA). Although the present Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar as well as a few other officers were also interested in the job (Kumar because he will retire on March 31, 2021), the MVD CM Uaddav Thackerey preferred Mehta who has been functioning as his Principal Advisor after retiring as CS. Mehta's appointment as state RERA chief has taken place in the background of a mild controversy regarding the disregard for following the due procedures for such an appointment.
