Brijendra Singh, a 1998 batch IAS
officer of Haryana cadre and son of Union Steel Minister Birender Singh, on 23 December, hinted that he might join the politics soon. In his public address, he
indicated that he was not averse to join politics. Further he added that if he
was destined to be in the politics, people would definitely see him in that
‘avtar’ and he would share his mind with the media whenever the idea of joining
politics hit him. While addressing a function to
mark the birth anniversary of late PM Chaudhary Charan Singh at Jind-based Ch
Ranbir Singh University he said that “Politics and bureaucracy are like wheels
of a vehicle of progress. Fine collaboration between the two is required for
the developmentâ€. Brijendra also added that he was proud of his legacy of
being born in the lineage of the legendary farmer leader Sir Chotu Ram. Presently, he is Managing
Director of Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited
(HAFED). It may be mentioned that two senior bureaucrats, in November last week, took plunge into politics namely Smita Sarangi (IAS:1994:OR) and former CBI Joint Director V V Lakshminarayana (IPS:1991:MH). Mrs Sarangi joined BJP while Lakshminarayana joined Lok Satta party ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
