Patna (02.03.2024): Bihar Chief Secretary Amir Subhani (IAS: 1987: BH) has taken VRS two months before his retirement i.e on April 30, 2024. Subhani will be replaced by Brijesh Mehrotra (IAS: 1987: BH) who will be retiring in August 2024. Interestingly like Subhani, Mehrotra too has been among most officers of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and remained into the helm of affairs under Nitish Kumar’s regime. Subhani was appointed by Bihar Nitish Kumar and now his VRS suggests that the new dispensation backed by the BJP has started asserting just before 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The change of guard simply signifies realignment in the bureaucratic set up and not a visible shift of power from Nitish to alliance partner.
