With the re-appointment of Raghavendra Singh, a retired 1983 batch IAS officer, as Union Culture Secretary on a contract basis, the entire batch is reportedly enthused and expects more respect during the morning and evening walks. Junior batches too find it something insightful for better career prospects ahead.

After the retirement of the last serving IAS officer from the batch, a few months ago, a problem of access to the Delhi Darbar was beginning to emerge but the lastest development has sparked-off rays of hope. Officers in junior batches too have started whispering, though in a lighter vein, that they should start extending more respectful ‘Pranams’ to the retired IAS officers during their morning and evening walks.

Who knows the outgoing DOPT Secretary Dr. C Chandramouli (IAS:1985:TN), retiring this week, would have to welcome and hand over the baton to a retired IAS officer from either of the senior batches.
