New Delhi (19.06.2024): The Chief Secretary of Assam and all officials and MLAs will pay their electricity bill from July 1, 2024. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued directive, “Myself and Chief Secretary will set an example and start paying our power bills from July 1 onwards. We are ending VIP culture of paying electricity bills of government officials using tax payers money.” Beginning July 2024, all public servants will have to pay their own electricity consumption. The CM said this order will impact 8000 government offices etc.
