They are nicknamed G-8; and they are driving the system to its full throttle to generate ideas to fuel the country’s economy and administrative system to cope with the challenges in FY16.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his ‘New Year Eve’ interaction with ranking officials (GoI secretaries), constituted eight Groups of Secretaries (GoS) to work out road maps for implementing the government’s agenda in critical areas. Each group is made up of 12 secretaries. None of the secretaries heads any group. Each group has to function like a team. They are allowed to pick up Jt Secretaries to assist them in their tasks. Their reports will be submitted to the Cabinet Secretary, who is, reportedly, scheduled to hold his first meeting with these GoS on January 12, followed by two more rounds on January 15 and 17.
One may like to recall that ‘Indianmandarins’ was first to report & anticipate on December 28 that PM might declare such initiative during his interaction with GoI secretaries on December 31.
